On Birth

Contractions & Walking

We're Getting Closer

After a number of different techniques, contractions have started. Currently they're happening every couple of minutes, but the doctor on call just checked and we still have a ways to go. Dinner just arrived and it actually looks pretty edible.

We just watched about six straight hours of NCIS. I'd say that we're more than ready for Amelia to come out.

At the Hospital

At about 4:45 this morning, Scarlette's water broke. It wasn't one of those ones you see in the movies, and we weren't sure if it had happened or not, so around 9:00am we called the hospital to ask. They suggested that we come into the hospital to check it out, and sure enough: water.

So we're currently at the hospital, waiting for contractions to start. The doctor just came in and told us about a couple of options for kickstarting the process, but we're waiting to see if something happens naturally. Lucky for us, the doctor we've been using the whole time is on call tonight, so there's a good chance she'll be here for the birth. Also, we're the only labor patients here at the moment.

We've walked a couple of laps up and down the hallway, but just to the point where we got tired, nothing more for now. Hopefully in the next day or so, Amelia will be out in the world hanging out with us!
